I went totally punk rock with me latest DiY project. Okay, so maybe not totally punk rock but it includes leather and studs! I have been seeing tumb tacks being used as studs all over Pinterest and just have to give it a try myself. I am so glad I did because I am in love with the thumb tack studded canvas that I made.
Here is what you’ll need to make your own:
- A 9″ x 12″ canvas
- acrylic paint (pink)
- Paint Brush
- Piece of leather or vinyl
- Sharpie
- heart template
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- thumb tacks
Start out by painting your canvas pink! (or whichever color you prefer)
Next you will want to trace your heart template on to your piece of leather/faux-leather and cut her out!
Then, glue the leather heart in the center of the pink canvas with hot glue.
Outline the cutout with thumb tacks slightly overlapping them.
Add the last finishing touch by sticking thumb tacks in the shape of an “L” in the upper right and lower left corners of the canvas. I think this really brings the whole piece together!
Thats it! Pretty simple and very Pretty!! Punk rock? Maybe not, but I love it and am okay knowing that I will most likely never be a punk rocker. haha
