One of my favorite aspects of DIY is that I am able to really customize my projects. There is nothing better then making a custom item that no one can buy at a store. Whether it is a piece of jewelry or a decoration for your room; it is uniquely yours. In this post, I will be showing you how to make a customized clay keychain with Sculpey Clay.
Here is what you will need:
Premo! Oven Bake Clay
Oval Keychain
Sculpey Technique Blocks
Sculpey Letters and Numbers Flexible Push Mold
Step 1: Choose a color for the base of your keychain and kneed the clay in your hands to soften it. Then fill the keychain with the clay so there is clay slightly above the metal.
Step 2: Using the technique design block of your choice, add a patterned texture to the clay. You will do this by simply pressing the block evenly and with a lot of pressure into to clay. I love the look of this aztec pattern!
Step 3: Pick a coordinating color of clay and kneed it in your hands to soften it. Fill the mold of your initials (or your friend’s) and pop them out.
Step 4: Place the initials on the keychain and press down with a little bit of pressure- not too much.
Step 5: Place the whole keychain on a backing sheet and bake it at 275 degrees for 45 minutes.
Let it cool and then you will have a super cool customized clay keychain. This would make a cute and inexpensive birthday present for a friend as well! You can totally personalize it with their favorite colors and their initials. Do you have a friend that you know would just love one?
