I am in love with everything bohemian. The patterns like ikat are just so pretty that I can’t help myself sometimes. I have been admiring a few boho leather purses recently. Instead of buying them, I decided to make my own DIY stenciled boho purse because that’s just what I do! I found the perfect stencil from Americana Decor and used it to turn a plain bag that I already had into a bag just like the ones I have been wanting. You can make your own with this tutorial!
Supplies: leather purse | Americana Decor Indian Ikat Stencil | DecoArt SoSoft Lamp Black | DecoMagic Brush Cleaner
Step 1: Lay the bag on the table so that the part you want to stencil is flat. Then apply the 12 by 12 stencil over the bag. I chose to stencil just the flap of my purse.
Step 2: Using a makeup sponge, dab on the black SoSoft paint through the stencil.
Step 3: You will now peel up the stencil. If there are any imperfections or excess paint, you can use DecoArt Brush and stencil cleaner to clean it up before it dries.
I am absolutely in love with my new bag! I’m so glad that I didn’t spend $50 on the one that I saw in the stores. DIY is the way to go! This bag has a special handmade touch while still being incredibly trendy. You should totally make one!
