2/29 | “Home is Where the Pizza is” DIY Doormat

Today we’re going to make a project that I’ve been excited about for the past few weeks. This is such a relevant quote and thought it would be perfect on your doormat, especially for our generation. I feel like we honestly feel at home with pizza, even thought it isn’t all that healthy for us. Let me share with you exactly how I made it.

Supplies : Americana Multi-Surface | Doormat | Stencil | Painter’s Tape | DuraClear Varnish | Foam Brush

Step 1 : Cut your stencil with a die cutting machine or create one with a craft knife.

Step 2 : Apply your stencil to your doormat.

Step 3 : Start stenciling with your Americana Multi-Surface paint. Be sure to not have too much paint on your foam brush. When you’re stenciling, less is more. TIP – For the best affect, dab up and down.

Step 4 : Once your first coat has been applied, go back for a second coat. I especially like to give two coats to textured surfaces.

Step 5: Remove your stencil and use a detail brush for any touch ups.

Step 6: Apply your DuraClear Varnish to protect your project from the elements.

Step 7: Place your mat on your front porch and enjoy some pizza!

Wasn’t this a awesome DIY? I think this idea can be spun off in many different ways. You could add this to a shirt, canvas, or even a banner like this one Courtney created last week.
