3/31 | DIY Marble Home State Art

I am in for a major change come August. I will be going off to college in North Carolina and am so excited to be attending my dream school, Elon University. While excited, I am also nervous about leaving my home and being 8 hours away from my family. To deal with this, I created this DIY marble home state art to hang in my dorm and always remember home.

This DIY marble home state art is way easier to make than you may think. There is no actual marbling involved in the process. If you know how to use scissors, you can make this. I came across this handmade marble paper at my local craft store and knew I had to make something with it. It was practically already art and was rather inexpensive too. The piece that I bought cost $4 and was 18 by 24 inches. You could make lots of these DIY marble home state art pieces out of just one sheet!
You will need: a picture frame from the dollar store | Cricut Air 2 Americana Multi-Surface in Purple Rain |Dazzling Metallics Venetian Gold paint || Americana Decou-Page |paint brushes | handmade marbled paper

Step 1: Using Americana Multi-Surface in Purple Sunset, paint the frame. It is best to use two coats allowing the frame to dry in between.

Step 2: Freehand paint the word “home” across the bottom of an 8 by 10 inch

Step 3: Use your Cricut To cut out the shape of your home state from the marble paper.

Step 4: Apply a thin coat of Americana Decou-Page to the back of the state cutout. Be sure to cover the edges.

Step 5: Adhere the marble state cutout onto the white paper above the word home.

Having this reminder of home right over my desk will hopefully bring me a little bit of comfort when I am feeling home sick. I love how I got the look of marbling without having to go through that tedious process, you can cut any shape you want out of a handmade marbled paper to create beautiful artwork easily!
