6/30 | DIY Glass Dome Tray

Glass domes are taking over the shelves at pottery barn, Home Goods, Target, pretty much anywhere you would buy home decor. I am a big fan of the trend by not a huge fan of the price tags. One day when I was looking around Good Will, as all teenagers spend their free time, I came across this glass dome tray that was so out dated and quite frankly hideous. It had serious potential. There is nothing that cannot be fixed with a good coat of paint! Am I right??

Step One: We are going to work on the center tile first, so tape off the wood part of the tray.

Step 2: Using a pice of sandpaper, ruff up the ceramic tile. The design on mine had a little texture which I was able to remove with a little bit of sanding as well.

Step 3: Paint the center tile with Americana Multi-Surface in Steel Gray.

Step 4: Once the center has dried, tape it off and paint the wood part of the tray with Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Everlasting.

Step 5: Seal the whole thing with Dishwasher-Safe Decou-Page. I probably won’t actually put this in the dishwasher, but this will make it waterproof.

It is so much prettier than that awful floral print and orange wood. This DIY glass dome tray is prefect for cheese platters and would also make a great centerpiece. Maybe put some decorative balls or succulents in there? I think it’d be pretty.
