8/31 | The Best Budget Friendly Car Tips

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nationwide. I purchased my
own insurance at normal prices. All opinions are 100% mine.

Nationwide provided me with information regarding its SmartRide program.

Everyone tries their best to drive safe and save money when they can, right? Well I have some great money saving tips and tricks for car owners! Some are tips I’ve found through the years and others are some that people have told me, that I now swear by. Let me help you save money, and get rewarded for things you’re already doing with The Best Budget Friendly Car Tips!

If You Can, Do It Yourself

So it’s no surprise that it’s not wise to DIY your car repairs like replacing the timing belt or radiator, but there are so many things you can do yourself with little or no difficulty. Things like changing your oil, replacing air filters, spark plugs, brake-pads, and even headlight bulbs and windshield wipers are all simple things you can easily replace and change in your car to save tons of money. So don’t haul your car to the mechanic when you can do it at home!

Savings at The Pump

Even though gas prices are at an all-time low and I’m loving it, don’t be fooled by the number on the sign. Often times different gas companies offer discounts or gas cards if you buy products from their store or sign up for certain reward programs. It sounds too good to be true but trust me, you can save big bucks on gas by acquiring some of these cards and fuel points. It’s definitely worth looking into!

Make a Smart Budget

Maybe some weeks you seem to have everything together, and other weeks you’re a mess. If this is you, look into creating a personalized smart budget to keep your auto-life together! Try things like only allowing yourself a certain amount of gas or miles to drive per week, or little things like turning the air conditioning to 1 or 2 when the car has cooled, or turning your car off when waiting in a parking lot or waiting for a family member. BONUS: Try carpooling with friends to events, work, or out to dinner.

SmartRide

Nationwide‘s SmartRide is the best approach to auto insurance that my mom and I have found. We all save so much money just driving as we do every day! It measures my driving behavior so I can take advantage of driving safely and in doing so it lowers mine and my mother’s insurance rates and premiums. When you enroll in the program, you get a small device to plug in your car, which is so easy to install. My mom was awarded a 10% discount just for signing up and depending on our driving, we can earn discounts up to 40%!

Since my mom is already a Nationwide Auto policy holder, she just called to get a quote and signed up right then, it’s amazing that we can earn discounts for the way we drive. Over the next few months, Nationwide and I have teamed up to share even more information about the SmartRide program. Look forward to learning even more about your car and how you too can save on your auto insurance!

What is your favorite tip to saving money on all things auto related? We would love to know how you stretch your dollars to make them last with your car? Be sure to share this post with all your friends that are looking for budget friendly auto tips!

Nationwide asked that I include this information about the product:
