I think this idea is great. The materials are cheap because all you need are hot rocks and crayons, but oh my goodness can you create some beautiful stuff. You have to be careful with the little hands on the hot rocks, but the kids always love creating neat designs as the crayons melt on the rocks, too.
It’s so much easier than you think to create your own colors and shapes of crayons. there are so many different ways you can do this like putting them in your cupcake tin in liners, or placing them in different shaped silicone molds and popping them in the oven. I have made some candles in my day and its not as hard as it looks, plus to me, it’s actually kind of relaxing melting the wax and mixing in the oils. The one thing I struggled with was how to make my candles colored the way I wanted them, and then I found this tutorial. You will love these color blocked candles.
