School time is upon us, my friends. I’m not sure what exact emotions that evokes from you, but I am sure it is some sort of mix between happy and sad. Lunch packing, on the other hand, most likely brings on feelings of stress and fury. Maybe even some bad memories from last year. Today I thought I would share a few lunch packing tips and tricks to make your experience as easy as it can be. I also have a coupon for you so keep on reading!
TIP #1- There is nothing worse than a brown apple in your lunch box. Anytime I would pack a sliced apple, it came home in the lunch box. Same thing with an uncut apple. That is until I discovered this little trick. All you have to do is cut the apple into a few big slices, put them back together like a puzzle, and wrap a rubber band around it to keep it together. It doesn’t brown and there is no lemon juice or chemicals needed!
TIP #2- Disney Frozen® String Cheese. Is that enough of a tip? I think so. Kids love these because it is string cheese to start and who doesn’t love that? It is so fun to peel and eat and it tastes so yummy. If that isn’t enough, when they open up their lunch box, their favorite characters are there waiting for them. Moms, you are going to love these too because they are an easy lunch addition that you know your kids will eat. Plus the cheese is made with milk and packed with calcium and protein so you will feel good about this wholesome, responsible choice for your kids. Be sure to pick them up in the dairy section of your local Meijer, ShopRite, Giant, Tops Friendly Markets, HEB, or Wegmans and use this coupon to get $0.75 off of Disney Frozen String Cheese.
TIP #3- Pack small portions. I love using snack sized baggies for snacks like crackers, chips, and pretzels. It is a lot more economical than buying the prepackaged snack size portions which I love. Plus they are resealable if the kiddos want to save some for later.
TIP #4- Use a sandwich box. Pulling a peanut butter and jelly out of a sticky plastic bag is enough to take a kid’s appetite away. Using a sandwich box is a much more clean option and it also makes sure that there is no squishing of the sandwich going on before lunch time rolls around.
TIP #5- Freeze the drink. It is like killing two birds with one stone. It keeps all the food cold like an ice pack would without taking up any extra space. The drink will melt by lunch time and will be super cold still. It works with a water bottle or juice, even a juice box!
Sooooo, how did I do? Did you pick up a tip that you hadn’t thought of before? I hope you did! If so, leave me a comment and tell me which one you will be adding to your lunch packing routine! I love being able to share ideas and things that I have learned along the way with you guys especially when they actually impact and improve your life. There is no better feeling!
