10/31 | DIY Spider Web Pull Apart Cake

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of A&W®, Sunkist® and 7UP®. The opinions and text are all mine.

It’s almost Halloween, and it’s time to start brainstorming fun Halloween party ideas and recipes your guests will enjoy. See that spider web pull apart cake? I am going to show you how to make it! I headed over to my local Walmart to hopefully get inspired, and I wasn’t disappointed. I love walking around Walmart to see all the great seasonal things they display to help my creative wheels get turning! I got some great ideas for recipes and even picked up some party decor too. There is so much variety it was hard to choose between all the fun Halloween stuff. As I was walking around Walmart, I found these totally adorable Mini Monster canned drinks in several varieties, available in store now through October 31st! How perfect would these be for your Halloween party? Instead of having boring bottle drinks you can have these super cute Halloween themed cans, and they also have 2-Liters available!

Aren’t they adorable? They are absolutely perfect for a Halloween party and everyone loves the cute little designs on the cans. Not only are they fun, but each can even has a Snapchat Snap Code you can use to unlock a special Snapchat filter for 1 hour, how awesome is that?
Scan the ghost icon on the cans by holding your phone (with Snapchat open) over the ghost icon and press the ghost icon on your screen (this does not require a video or picture taken) this process unlocks the Snapchat geo filter. The filter is unlocked for 1 hour so don’t forget to post a photo with the geo filter within the hour!
Now all your party guests can have extra fun unlocking this special filter and taking party pictures to last a lifetime.

I was also thinking of ways I could incorporate these drinks into a fun party recipe and I thought, how about in a DIY Spider Web Pull Apart Cake? I thought about normal cupcakes, but a pull-apart cake that looks like a spider web would just look so much more fun. I love that you can use these drinks at a party but also in recipes. This is a super easy, 2 ingredient Halloween dessert recipe that all your guests will love. It’s also a great recipe if you’re running low on time and can’t make one from scratch, but it’s no less delicious. If you love easy desserts, you’ll love this one.

Supplies:

  • 2 A&W Mini Monster Cans
  • Cupcake Liners
  • Black Tube Frosting
  • White Can Frosting
  • 1 Bag Chocolate Cake Mix

Step One- Pour your bag of cake mix into a medium-sized bowl, and mix in both of your A&W Mini Monster Cans with a whisk until everything is smooth.

Step Two- Place your liners in a cupcake tin and fill your batter 2/3 of the way full in your liners. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until done. For darker cakes, a great tip that really helps determine when they are done is to get a toothpick and stick it in the middle of one of your cupcakes, and if there’s no batter on the toothpick when you pull it out, the cupcakes are done!

Step Three- Once cooled, arrange the cupcakes on a plate and spread the white frosting all over the tops of the cupcakes evenly. Then make a spider web pattern with your black tube frosting. Add candy or plastic spiders before serving. You could even get creative and add sprinkles or whatever you’d like.

Wasn’t that a fun recipe? Everyone will love it. That’s not the only recipe I made either, I whipped up a super easy batch of party popcorn, laid out some Halloween cookies, and even made some yummy Orange Halloween Punch. All I did was mix orange juice, 7UP and orange sherbet together in a punch bowl. I was able to get everything I needed and more for all of my recipes at Walmart, and I love that it’s a one-stop shopping center, everything I need is all in one place. I got all of my Halloween supplies, decorations, party favors, all at Walmart for a great price, and everything looked great.
