Oooooo, friends you are in for a treat today! I was brainstorming Valentine’s crafts and decor the other day and I guess my love of cacti brought this DIY Cactus Canvas to my mind. I know a lot of you all are fans of holiday decor (cause when we post it you go CRAZY) but I am not fully on board. So this DIY has a touch of the Valentine’s holiday but I love that I can leave it up all year long and no one will think twice. This DIY cactus canvas has so much texture- it is dreamy! Let me show you exactly how I did it so you can make one too!
Here is what you will need to create your own DIY Catus Canvas:
- a 9 by 12 stretched canvas
- green and pink felt
- light green embroidery thread
- embroidery needle
- blue paint + paintbrush
- brown paint (optional)

Step One: Sketch a cactus shape onto the green felt and a small heart onto the pink felt/
Step Two: Cut them out using the scissors.
Step Three: Draw out a pot that will fit the cactus in it on the back of the cork. (PS- I found the cork in the scrapbook isle of Michales with the individual sheets of paper)
Step Four: Paint the canvas with the blue paint (or whatever color you want)!
Step Five: Add stitching to the felt cactus to make it look a little more realistic and add some texture. You could also add some stitching to the heart if you would like but ended up deciding not to. Another optional step is to paint the top part of the cork pot with brown paint to add more texture and interest.
Step Six: Hot glue all the pieces together! Be sure the glue the cactus down before the pot so that you can cover the edge of it.
Look at that beauty! Isn’t it so sweet? Canvases like this DIY cactus canvas are a great and inexpensive way to decorate your home for the holidays or all year long! You better believe this guy will keep me company for all 12 months. I do think it would make a great Valentine’s gift for a succulent lover like me though.
