Y’all, I cannot tell you how excited I am about today’s post! You know my affection for rainbows and bright colors if you have read other posts or scrolled through our Instagram. A lot of you share the love for color and lucky for us, Saint Patrick’s Day is coming up and we can decorate with all the colors of the rainbow together in celebration!! The excitement doesn’t stop there though. March 17th also happens to be National Corn Dog Day! Yup- you heard that right. There is a day ALL. ABOUT. CORN. DOGS!! After putting 2 and 2 together, I just knew that I had to throw a party to celebrate. I’ll be serving up some State Fair® Corn Dogs with a chocolate dip (oh yeah, I went there) along with some lucky green milkshakes!
I headed to the freezer aisle of my H-E-B and picked up a big ole box of State Fair Corn Dogs (22 count). That will definitely be plenty to feed my guests. When I have people over or have a party, I like to have an easy main course that requires the minimal amount of prep possible, can all be cooked at the same time, and is super yummy. State Fair Corn Dogs have 6 grams of protein per serving and taste great! You really can’t go wrong with a Corn Dog party! Especially because I have a $2 off coupon for ya! It’s available between 2/28/18 through 3/27/18. State Fair Brand helps fuel kids’ play because it offers a good source of protein that kids will love and helps mom to win the day! Be sure to use it when you’re shopping at H-E-B!
I couldn’t just leave it at that, because you know I am extra! Also, in honor of National Corn Dog Day, State Fair Brand is hosting its first ever Corn Dog Dip-Off Sweepstakes. The slogan is “Pick a dip, win a trip!” You have the chance to win the $10,000 grand prize towards a family vacation and many other great prizes. So I decided to go a slightly untraditional route and whipped up a delicious chocolate dip for my guests to enjoy. I know it may sound like an odd combo, but it is actually really yummy. It was inspired by the chocolate covered corn dogs that you can get at the fairs.
The recipe for the chocolate dip is really simple! It only requires 3 ingredients: evaporated milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vegetable oil. Put 2 cups of chocolate chips, ½ a cup of evaporated milk, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a microwave safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for 1.5 minutes. Then take it out, add some more chocolate chips (about ¼ cup) and mix until everything is melted and it is nice and smooth. It can be served right then or if you want to make it ahead of time, it re-heats really well too!
Lastly, I will be serving some delicious lucky milkshakes! I use vanilla ice cream, milk, and green food coloring. Then top it with lots of whipped cream, colorful marshmallows, and some gold sprinkles! I have made these for years and they are definitely a crowd favorite!
If you are looking for some fun conversation starters at your gathering, I highly recommend going around and talking about what you all are so lucky to have in your life.
