Hey Everyone! I am so excited about today’s post because I get to share a large scale DIY project with you! One thing I love about crafting and DIYing is that you can make tiny things or really really big things! While this DIY Quote Wall Art is on the bigger side, it is still super inexpensive and relatively easy to create! I love the soft and fluffy texture of the Loop It yarn I used to form the quote, don’t you? Red Heart’s new Loop-It Yarn is so fun to work with. You can make lots of things out of it from blankets, to rugs, to scarves, and even this DIY Quote Art without any tools!
I love how this project turned out and think it looks awesome hanging above my bed! I know you want to hear how I did it, so here you go.
- wood cut to size
- spray paint
- Red heart Loop-It yarn
- marker
- scissors
- hammer
- nails
Step One: Spray paint the wood the color of your choosing. 2 coats should do the trick.
Step Two: Use the marker to write out the quote across the wood. Be sure to space it out and center it as you see fit. Doing a rough sketch on some scrap paper first may help in preventing errors.
Step Three: Starting with the first loop, turn it 180 degrees to the left. Then take the next loop and pull it through the first loop from the back to the front. Repeat that until the strand is long enough for your whole quote.
Step Four: place the beginning of the looped yarn at the start of the first letter and nail it into place. Continue following the drawn letters with the yarn and nailing every few inches and at the curves.
**TIP** hit the nails a few extra times to get them to go in further and be covered by the yarn.
Step Five: When you get to the end of a word, cut the looped yarn and nail down any loose ends.
Continue this process for the rest of the quote! I chose the simple yet profound quote, “Be Kind.” I believe if everyone lived by these two simple words, the world would be a much better place.
I love having this DIY Quote Art above my bed! I am excited to wake up and see this quote that will set the tone for my day, every day! How great is that? I cannot get over the soft and fully texture of this yarn. I feel like I may need to make a matching blanket for my bed. It’s only logical, right? So maybe stay tuned for that tutorial in the near future! In the meantime, be sure to pick up some Red Heart Loop-It Yarn to make your own DIY Yarn Wall Art.
