Guess what? I have yet another amazing Christmas decor tutorial for you all. This time we’re coming at you with some Wood Block Photo Displays perfect to make this holiday season. We used our Canon PIXMA Printer the TS9521C created with crafters in mind along with Canon Matte Restickable Photo Paper to take these photo displays to the next level.
When we got inspired to make these frames, we also wanted to show you guys a bunch of different ways you could decorate and personalize them to your style. We decided to give you guys three different variations of this photo display. Let us know in the comments below which idea is your favorite!

The first way we decorated one was by simply painting the wood block. We picked a color that matched our adorable artwork and painted 1-2 coats allowing the paint to dry between coats. How simple is that? It’s crazy what a difference a coat or two of paint can make on a project like this. It adds a great pop of color.
The next way we decorated a block was by using our favorite color and pattern of Washi Tape to add a touch of personality to the wood. You can add the tape any way you’d like. It’s a simple way to add a pop of design to your photo display. You could even use multiple colors and patterns if you want.
Finally, to decorate our last wood block we broke out our wood burning tool and went for a simple boho pattern. Nothing hard, just simple lines all around our wood block added a nice boho feel. If you’ve never used a wood burning tool before, they’re so fun and easy to use once you get the hang of it. This is a great beginner project for first-time wood burners too.
Overall this project was so easy to make. The balsa wood blocks we bought were so soft and easy to cut through with a craft knife. The Plexiglass was simple to cut as well, we just used a paper trimmer and cut them to size. We stuck the plexiglass into the cut balsa wood blocks and applied our Matte Restickable Photo Paper to the plexiglass after printing on all of our artwork. It was so easy!
I love how we personalized each one. I hope we gave you all some good inspiration on how you can decorate yours. Paint, washi tape, wood burning, the possibilities are endless. If you want to get crafty and use your own Canon PIXMA Printer the TS9521C and Canon Matte Restickable Photo Paper with these adorable designs, click here to download the free printable and use them all!
