Hey Everyone! Today we are coming at you with yet another faux marble project! This time we are making DIY faux marble coasters. Out of what? You probably already know that we are going to be using our favorite marble contact paper to get that expensive look for WAY less!
Here is what you will need to make this project:
4 inch wooden squares | Americana Multi-Surface Paint | Dishwasher-Safe Decou-Page | paintbrushes | felt | scissors | hot glue
Step One: Paint the 4 inch wooden squares with your desired colors of Americana Multi-Surface. We went with Waterfront and Deep Turquoise and love how they look with the marble.
Step Two: Add strips of marble contact paper to your coasters. You can use one thick strip or a combination of thick and thin strips. I think a bunch of thin strips would be cool too. I did some on the diagonal too which is fun.
Step Three: Apply a layer of Dishwasher-Safe Decou-Page to the entire coaster. Since the final products will be used and handled frequently, this is important to seal and protect for added durability. I chose to use the Dishwasher-Safe formula because it will make the coasters water resistant for when your drink sweats.
Step Four: Cut felt into squares that are just slightly smaller than the coasters.
Step Five: Use hot glue to glue the felt to the back of the coasters. This will make sure that they don’t scratch your table top.
I love how these DIY faux marble coasters turned out! They are perfect for indoor and outdoor gatherings. I think they would make a great inexpensive housewarming gift. Who wouldn’t want to have some super trendy marble coasters in their new house or apartment?
