Hello Crafty Friends! Happy Fall. I’m a huge fan of this season as I’m based in the beautiful East Tennessee area and when the leaves change I get so excited. Today we’re sharing our official DIY Friendsgiving Table Spread. I love this because it couldn’t be easier to replicate and it really shows how the simple touches make every table spread so unique. The main DIY element we utilized was using Cricut Iron On for WOOD. When I first heard this I couldn’t believe it, but you’re about to be amazed.
Let’s DIY –
Supplies:
Cricut Maker
Cricut EasyPress OR an Iron
Cricut Iron On White
Weeding Tools
Wooden Name Plates
Step One: Cut your guest’s names out with your Cricut Maker. Be sure to apply your Cricut Iron On shiny side DOWN and don’t forget to “mirror” your image in the Cricut Design Space Software.
Step Two: Weed your names from the Cricut Iron On. What I love about Cricut Iron On is that the transfer paper comes directly on the product. No additional steps!
Step Three: Take your weeded names and place them on your wooden nameplates. Then take your Cricut EasyPress or Iron and set it to 280 degrees for 30 seconds. Apply the easy press to each nameplate, and press the green button until the timer has completed. Then let them all cool and carefully remove the transfer paper.
We finished the project off by spray painting mini terra cotta pots in gold, adding some potting soil, and placing our wooden nameplates in the pots. We loved this!
For our table runner, we went to our local home improvement store and had them cut a piece of wood to fit the length of our table and stained it with a darker stain. We recommend letting this completely dry for at least 48 hours before continuing with this Iron On Project.
Let’s DIY –
Step One: Open this Make It Now project in Cricut Design Space. You can cut out the extra items if you’d like, but as you can see we simply went with the “Give Thanks” that is specifically formatted for a table runner. Again, be sure to mirror your image and apply the Cricut Iron On shiny side down.
Step Two: Weed your image, then place it where you want it onto your table runner.
Step Three: Preheat your Cricut EasyPress or iron to 280 degrees for 30 seconds.
Step Four: Apply your Cricut EasyPress to the one section of the image and press the green button. Once the timer has completed, place it on the next area and press the green button again until the timer has completed.
Step Five: Once you’ve heated the entire image, let cool and slowly remove the transfer paper. Take your time, and it is okay to go back in and apply extra heat if an area needs extra attention.
I’ve had a few people ask why would I use Cricut Iron on for wood instead of regular vinyl: The answer is that the Cricut Iron On is able to shape to the texture of the wood MUCH better than traditional vinyl, this is due to using your Cricut EasyPress and you’re essentially bonding these two surfaces together.
