3/31 | DIY Shadow Box Terrarium

The craft I’m showing you today is a game changer. Everyone loves succulents and we’ve made tons of terrariums before. I love how succulents haven’t gone out of style yet, so we’re celebrating that by making you all another terrarium craft! We’ll be showing you all how to make your own DIY Shadow Box Terrarium. You will love how this project turns out. You can also use live succulents but we stuck with faux ones. Even though they’re easy to take care of I’m sure we’d accidentally kill them. Better to be safe than sorry! I hope you all enjoy learning how to make this super fun terrarium.

  • Wooden Frame

1. Dissasemble your 5×7 picture frame and take the glass out. Use your ruler and glass cutter to cut off-center about 2 inches.

2. Keep the larger glass piece, and toss the smaller one or save it to use on another fun DIY.

3. You want to secure the glass well onto the wooden frame so be generous with the hot glue.

4. Once you’ve added hot glue, lay your glass piece down and add another layer of glue on the inside.

5. Now fill your shadow box with soil, sand, then more soil. I think the layered pattern gives it a nice look. Once you’re satisfied with the soil, add your succulents and voila!

I love the look of this craft. This would look great sitting on your desk, in a window sill, or even hung on the wall! Get creative and see how you can make yours even better than ours. I hope succulents don’t go out of style anytime soon. I don’t think I’m done crafting with them yet! I hope you all got inspired to make some fun spring crafts like this one.
