I am in such the holiday spirit! Christmas is coming quick and there is no better time to decorate! We all have the staple decorations that come out year after year without fail, right? Those are great and definitely provide to the feeling of Christmas, but sometimes we need an update. My Christmas wreath has seen better days and I was going to buy a new one, but I decided that I should make something to replace it instead! In this post, I am going to share with you how I made this Gold Glitter Monogram that is perfect for Christmas and can be used all year long as well.
You will need: circular chipboard letter | tinsel | Americana Decou-Page |Americana Decor Paint Brush | gold glitter | Dazzling Metallics Splendid Gold paint | Americana Spray Sealer
Step 1: Paint the circular chipboard letter with an even coat of Dazzling Metallics. Splendid Gold is such a nice bright, shiny gold and it covers really well! This coat is just to ensure that if you happen to miss a spot with the glitter, it will still look gold!
Step 2: Once the gold paint has dried, apply a thick coat of Americana Decou-Page in sections. Working in sections will help so that the Decou-Page doesn’t dry before you get to adding the glitter.
Step 3: Pour gold glitter over the section. You may want to press it down gently with your fingers to get it to stick. Then shake the excess off to use on the rest of the sections.
Step 4: Once you have covered the entire thing, spray the entire monogram with Americana Spray Sealer. This will insure that the glitter does not fall off.
Now it is time to hang; this is where the tinsel comes into play! Loop it through the top of the circular monogram and hook it on the the back of the door.
I love how it turned out! Christmas is bound to be amazing when you have this much sparkle hanging on your door! It will be the first thing that your holiday guests see when they come and is sure to impress!
One of my favorite parts about it is that once the holidays are over, you can switch out the tinsel for regular ribbon and keep it up all year long!
